GCPA emPOWERing Foundation David Olver Memorial Scholarship (Gulf Coast emPowering Women Scholarship)

Since 1983, GCPA has served Texas and the Gulf Coast as a regional electric power trade organization dedicated to promoting an
improved understanding of the issues and opportunities impacting contemporary power. The emPOWERing Women program was introduced in 2013 with the dual goals of offering opportunities for support, development and networking among women working in the electric power industry while also encouraging younger women pursuing technical degrees to consider careers in the electric power arena. Criteria for the scholarship include:
-Awardee must be a U.S. citizen or foreign national with permanent residency
-Preference will be given to members of the Society of Women Engineers
-Preference will be given to students specializing in electric power industry related fields of study
-Award based on merit (high GPA) not financial need
-Awarded to either a junior or senior (fall semester)
-Awardees are encouraged to attend a GCPA event, such as a conference or lunch meeting, to be recognized for achievements
