Gene H. Carter/John J. Burgess Civil Engineering Endowed Scholarship

The Gene H. Carter/John J. Burgess Civil Engineering Endowed Scholarship shall be used to provide scholarships to students in the Civil Engineering department. This scholarship may be renewed for a period not to exceed four years. To be renewed, the applicant must remain in good standing; must not be placed on probation; must make sufficient progress to insure graduation in eight semesters; and must maintain the minimum GPA in Civil Engineering.

Students must meet the following criteria for consideration:

• Student must have graduated from an accredited Texas High School.
• Student must have unconditional admission to the Civil Engineering program.
• Student must demonstrate an aptitude for success in Engineering.
• Student may be required to provide a brief statement of career goals, financial need, and other documentation, which may facilitate the selection process.
• Student’s grade point average, strength of course work, aptitude, and achievement scores, and significant and sustained involvement in worthwhile activities shall be used in selecting recipients.
• Financial need may be considered.
