Dean's Excellence in Social Work and African American Studies/Diversity Studies Scholarship

Financial support to students earning a Bachelor’s of Social Work degree with a minor in African American studies or a minor in Diversity Studies.

This scholarship is for a full time BSW student with a declared African American studies (AAST) minor or a declared Diversity Studies (DIVR) minor. Student must have completed at least one required AAST course or one required DIVR course with a B or higher and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Scholarship recipients may reapply provided they remain in good standing in the School of Social Work and the Center for African American Studies or Diversity Studies. No students shall hold this scholarship for more than two years.

Develop a 300 word minimum statement responding to the following: a) Describe how minoring in African American Studies or Diversity Studies fits into your career or further educational plans; b) Describe how you have made a contribution thus far to diverse communities (ex. volunteer work; internships; service learning classes, student teaching, etc.)
  2. At this time, have you completed at least one African American Studies or Diversity Studies course with a B or higher?
  3. How many credit hours are you enrolled in for Fall 2020?
  4. Provide a brief statement explaining any unusual circumstances or changes in your financial situation. What source(s) of income will you have during your enrollment in the Social Work program?
