Dean's Excellence in Social Work and Mexican American Studies/Diversity Studies Scholarship

Financial support to students earning a Bachelor’s of Social Work degree with a minor in Mexican American Studies OR a minor in Diversity Studies.

This scholarship is for a full-time BSW student with a declared MAS minor or a declared Diversity Studies minor. Student must have completed at least one required MAS or Diversity Studies course with a B or higher and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Scholarship recipients may reapply provided they remain in good standing in the School of Social Work and the Center for Mexican American Studies. No students shall hold this scholarship for more than two years.

Develop a 300 word minimum statement responding to the following: a) Describe how minoring in Mexican American Studies or DIversity Studies fits into your career or further educational plans; b) Describe how you have made a contribution thus far to diverse communities (ex. volunteer work; internships; service learning classes, student teaching, etc.)
  2. At this time, have you completed at least one Mexican American Studies course or Diversity Studies course with a B or higher?
  3. Provide a brief statement explaining any unusual circumstances or changes in your financial situation. What source(s) of income will you have during your enrollment in the Social Work program?
