EDGE Program Scholarship (PPOHA Grant)

As a result of the Promoting Postbaccalaureate Opportunities to Hispanic Americans (PPOHA) Grant, the EDGE Center has established the EDGE Scholarship to provide some much-needed financial support to graduate students. Recipients of the EDGE Scholarship are expected to participate in activities facilitated by the EDGE Center. These include personal development workshops, academic skill building sessions, career development workshops and more. Applicants can be from any master’s degree program at UT Arlington. Previously awarded scholars who have met all requirements are welcome to reapply for a second year.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

INCOME VERIFICATION FORM- The EDGE scholarship is an income-based scholarship funded by the US Department of Education PPOHA Grant. Please complete and upload the following form: Income Verification Form

PERSONAL STATEMENT- For new applicants, write a personal statement in which you share insights into your personal background, academic pursuits, and career objectives. Your statement should also include aspirations, discuss potential contributions to your field or society, and outline plans for further education or professional development. This should be a one-to-two-page, double-spaced document.

For previously awarded scholars, provide the following instead of a personal statement: Reflect on your past year as a scholar. Discuss the impact of the scholarship on your academic journey, personal growth, and/or community involvement. Provide examples of how you utilized the scholarship to achieve goals and contribute to your field or community. Outline plans for the upcoming year and how a continued scholarship will support your aspirations. This should be a one-to-two-page, double-spaced document.

RÉSUMÉ- Submit a résumé that includes your educational achievements, skills, honors, extracurricular activities, and group memberships.

REFERENCES- Provide the name and email for two references. Your references should be persons who can assess your academic potential or professional capacity such as faculty members, academic staff, supervisors, industry leaders, employers, advisors, mentors, etc.

Funding for the EDGE Scholarships are the result of the Title V, part B Promoting Postbaccalaureate Opportunities to Hispanic Americans (PPOHA) grant, funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
