Rebecca "Becky" Marie Munoz-Diaz UTA Communications Scholarship

Rebecca “Becky” Marie Muñoz-Diaz was a Texas broadcast media veteran who served as General Manager and Vice President for Univision’s KUVN 23 and UniMas KSTR 49 for the better part of two decades. Her transformational leadership solidified the position of these stations as the top-rated Spanish language stations in Dallas-Fort Worth, the fifth largest TV market in the country. “Becky was a pioneer in Spanish language media, a role model for women, a mentor to many, and an inspiration to all.” UTA is grateful to have partnered with Becky to improve access to higher education to students from all communities from across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and beyond. This scholarship is intended to honor her numerous achievements and accomplishments as well as her meaningful impact to the UTA community and its students.

This scholarship is for full-time, undergraduate students who are majoring in Communication within the College of Liberal Arts at UTA. It is open to new, incoming transfers and freshmen with a cumulative transfer or high school GPA of 3.0. Current UTA students are also eligible and must have a cumulative UTA GPA of 3.0. In addition, eligible students must be from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex or surrounding areas and must be enrolled in full-time status (12 or more hours) for the duration of the scholarship. Demonstrated financial need as determined by the FAFSA or TASFA may be considered with a preference for the scholarship to be awarded to a first-generation college student.
