Dr. Franklyn Alexander Scholarship Fund
Dr. Franklyn Alexander, an Arlington dentist and committed friend of The University of Texas at Arlington was reared in Baird, Texas- a small West Texas community with a population of approximately 1,600. Recognizing the challenges that students from small towns are confronted with in their pursuit of higher education, Dr. Alexander established the Dr. Franklyn Alexander Scholarship Fund to provide financial support to students studying science from communities similar to his own.
College of Science undergraduate or graduate students who: are currently enrolled as a full-time or part-time student majoring in Science and demonstrate academic achievement by maintaining a cumulative GPA in Science of an acceptable level, as determined by the College of Science Scholarship Selection Committee are eligible to apply.
Preference shall be given to students who have graduated from a Texas high school in a town with less than 150,000 in population.
This scholarship will be awarded in the spring 2024 semester and applied in two equal disbursements to the award recipient’s student account for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. The student must be enrolled as a COS major in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 and continue to be in good academic standing to receive the full scholarship award funds.
