Laura Cumbie Memorial Scholarship Endowment

College of Liberal Arts – Criminology and Criminal Justice Laura Elizabeth Cumbie was an intelligent, witty, loving and compassionate woman. In 1994, she decided on her first day of college that she wanted to pursue a degree in criminal justice. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas Wesleyan University in 1998. A few years later she decided to seek a graduate degree at the University of Texas at Arlington. While majoring in Criminology & Criminal Justice she made wonderful friends, both students and faculty, who brightened her life and helped her with her career. Many of her friends have been part of endowing this scholarship in her memory. Laura received her MA degree in Criminology & Criminal Justice from UTA in 2005. She was both an excellent student and a proud and active member (and President) of Alpha Phi Sigma, the National Honors Society for Criminal Justice. The Laura Cumbie Memorial Endowment Scholarship is intended to recognize a graduate student in the UTA Criminology & Criminal Justice program who excels, as Laura did, in both academic and extracurricular activities, while advancing professional knowledge, toward a life of serving others through the field of criminal justice.
