University of Texas at Arlington Linguistics and TESOL Alumni Fund

College of Liberal Arts – Department of Linguistics and TESOL: Funds from the scholarship shall be used for travel costs for student professional advancement and research initiatives, for either 1) student travel related to linguistic research outside the State of Texas, OR 2) student travel to present original research results at a professional meeting outside the State of Texas. Eligibility for the scholarship includes enrollment in a program that leads to a degree offered by the Department of Linguistics and TESOL and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.75.

Linguist and UTA alumna Robin J. Lombard has extensive experience working with non-native speakers of English, not only as a researcher, but also as a teacher, tutor, and mentor. She has taught English as a Second Language in the United States and the People’s Republic of China. Dr. Lombard has partnered with her employer, the Microsoft Corporation, to establish this endowment. By establishing this scholarship, Dr. Lombard hopes to support the professional and intellectual development of a new generation of language scholars.
